48.8 Millions Of Euros Support Boost To Somalia by European Union

The Somali Federal Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development Jamaal Mohamed Hassan said the European Union will implement economic programs in Somalia after having a bilateral agreement meeting with them.

These programs are geared towards economic development, good governance and promoting technical know-how that will generate an expense of € 48.8 millions.

The Somali Federal Minister of Planning further added that the fund from the European Union that was being used earlier for the development of the country is currently managed by his Ministry.

This bilateral agreement was signed on behalf of the Somali Federal Government by the Minister of Planning Investment and Economic Development Jamal Mohamed Hassan while the European Union was represented by their Director General for International Cooperation and Development Stefano Manservisi in the presence of the Prime Minister of Somalia Hassan Ali Kheyre and the Ambassador of the European Union to Somalia.

The Director General for International Cooperation and Development of EU has pointed out that his organization will extend a helping hand to Somalia on economic development, structuring of the armed forces, security and rebuilding of the institutions of Somalia.

On the other hand, the President of Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has received a delegation from the European Union that is led by its Director General for International Cooperation and Development Stefano Manservisi who spoke strengthening of the support accorded to Somalia by the EU.
