Somali cabinet pass bill against illegal weapons
The cabinet ministers of federal government of Somalia in their normal weekly meeting unanimously passed a bill banning possession of illegal weapons in Somalia.
The meeting was chaired by deputy prime minister and minister for religious affairs Ridwan Hersi in Prime minister’s office.
They also listened reports from the newly appointed minister for national security Khalif Ereg about the general security of the country.
After the meeting was concluded government’s spokesman Ridwan Haji Abdiweli holding press conference said the federal government through its security forces arrested over 30 al-shabab members in Mogadishu and nearby regions.
Ridwan Haji Abdiweli also stated that security forces successfully dismantled Al-shabab network in Harayale village in Wardhigley district of the capital adding that through tough intelligence of the government several plots of Al-shabab were thwarted particularly car laden with explosives in Liido beach during Eidul fitri occasion.
Finally he reiterated that senior Shabab commander Hassan Hanafi was arrested due to high level of collaboration between security agencies of Somalia and Kenya.
