Top British military officials in Mogadishu to discuss counter-terrorism
A British military delegation arrived in Mogadishu on Saturday for a visit to discuss counter-terrorism efforts with Somali Defense ministry.
The delegation which is headed by Lieutenant General John Lorimer has held talks with Somali Defense minister Andikadir Ali Diini.
They discussed the importance of integrating regional militia forces into the Somali National Army, carefully but without delay, in order to take the fight to Al-Shabab.
Officials underlined the UK Defense ministry’s strong commitment to supporting both AMISOM and the development of Somali security forces.
“We have discussed on how they can support the Somali national army and they vowed to support the army to win the war against terror” said minister Diini.
The UK officials who are on working visit in Somalia have also discussed on issues concerning the consolidation of the ties between the countries, with the minister.
Somalia and United Kingdom share ties based on mutual cooperation on the areas of security and trade.
