Galmudug state to try Al-Shabaab captives in a military tribunal
Galmudug state of Somalia will try tens of Al-Shabaab fighters captured last month clash between the state security forces and Al-Shabaab fighters, officials have said.
Galmudug state security minister Abdullahi Ahmed Alasow in an interview with Goobjoog News disclosed his state’s plan to bring Al-Shabab prisoners before military court except minors. ‘All Somali nationals will be tried in a military court in Galmdug state. Foreigner will be transferred to Somali Federal courts,” said the minister. Two Kenyans and one Tanzanian national are confirmed to have been captured by Galmudg forces during a three days fighting last month.
Under age prisoners will be treated differently and they will not stand before a military court, said the minister.
Galmudug and Puntland states captured tens of Al-Shabab b fighters in last month’s clashes between the two states security forces and Al-Shabab fighters who tried to enter deep into their territories.
