Ahlusuna dislodges Al-Shabaab from several villages in Galgaduud

Ahlu Sunna Waljama’a (ASWJ), a moderate Islamist group has claimed to have captured several villages from Al-Shabaab fighters in central Somalia.

The group’s spokeman Mursal Mohamed Yusuf said the group has begun military operations to hunt down Al-Shabaab members in Galgadud region.

He noted that they deployed hundreds ASWJ fighters in fighting vehicles in the outskirt of Guri’el town, where Al Shabaab leaders are reportedly holding meetings with local elders.

“Al-Shabaab has been trying to disturb  the public in those areas for the last three days but our fighters attacked the militants”

Ahl Sunna has several times engaged gun battle with Al-Shabaab fighters in Galgaduug region.

Mid last year, the group declared regional state contrary to Galmudug administration.
