Khatumo state president Ali Khalif Galar rules out any Negotiations with Puntland State

Former Somali Prime Minster and the current head of Khatumo State in Sool and Sanaag regions of Somalia Ali Khalif dismissed recent reports, which indicated planned negotiations with puntland State of Somalia.

Ali ruled out any negotiations with Puntland, saying Puntland isn’t ready yet to acknowledge the existence of Khatamu State.

“In case of Puntland they aren’t even ready to acknowledge the existence of Khatumo State, and therefore, no possibility to negotiates with them” said, Ali Khalif

Ali,however, disclosed the existence of outgoing negotiations with Somaliland  but denied  that the motive is to get seats from Somaliland  Government “  Let me be clear, if Somaliland and Khatumo reach an agreement, I won’t take any official post. I won’t be a minister, president or anything from Somaliland” Said Ali

He was the the prime minsiter of Somalia from October 8, 2000 to October 28, 2001.

Since August, 2014 Ali Khalif has been the President of Khatumo State, which consists Sool and Sanaag regions. Somaliland and Puntland also dispute the ownership of the two regions.
