Storyline:National News

A 12-year-old girl in Galkacyo of central Somalia was brutally assaulted and killed after she went missing for barely 24 hours.

The deceased young girl was identified as Aisha Ilyas Adan’s was raped, tortured and her mutilated body was found near her house on yesterday early in the morning.

Aisha’s mother speaking to the media said that the body of her was dumped a few meters away from her home as she added crying that her daughter was sexually violated.

The discovery of the body sparked protests in the Galkacyo town and the resident calling the authorities of the town to arrest and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Security forces of the town have yesterday conducted investigations and arrested several suspects in connection with the killing of the girl.

Galkacyo residents are not strangers to violence, but the circumstances surrounding the gruesome murder have left many people in utter disbelief.

The horrid killing of 12-year-old Aisha Ilyas Adan dimmed the vision of a young girl and robbed the country and family of her daughter.

Aisha’s death once more punctures the soul of our society and challenges our collective commitment to the sanctity of human life.

Many of Aisha’s age mates across the country have been subjected to a pain they ought not to have experienced pain more and more again.

The causes of the pervasive rape can be found in the decades of anarchic conflict that began in 1991 and continues in some parts of the country today.

The killer (s) of Aisha must face justice as sexual violence is another legacy of the war in Somalia.
