AG Dahir fired, replaced with Suleiman Mohamud

Attorney General Ahmed Ali Dahir has been fired and replaced by Suleiman Mohamed Mohamud, a statement from Villa Somalia Monday noted.

According to the statement, Dahir who has been in office since July 24, 2014 was replaced following recommendations from the Chief Justice Baashe Yusuf Ahmed ‘to accelerate judicial reforms and ensure a more transparent justice system throughout the country.’

The President called on the judiciary to expedite the reforms and the urged government to move fast in the formation of the Judicial Service Commission, the statement said.

Dahir was appointed by former president Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and was retained by Farmaajo for the better part of his presidency. He has been leading the legal team in the ongoing maritime case with Kenya.

Mohamud was appointed High Court judge in December 24, 2018.
