Agenda for the UN Summit attended by President Farmajo

Today Kampala city, Uganda is hosting a UN Summit on regional refugee affairs because the refugee crisis became a constant thorn in the flesh for many countries across the world.

The summit titled “Refugees Solidarity” is jointly organized by the UN and Uganda, a refugee host country.

The purpose of the meeting is believed to be aimed at how to raise donations, investments and programs to improve their lives.

It is a two-day event and the focus will be on the refugees in Uganda from South Sudan where 1.25 million of them are said to have reached inside the country within a period of one year while a month ago was only 500,000. Women and children make 87% of the refugees.

The refugee summit is expected to be attended by 30 Head of State and will be hosted jointly by Ugandan President Musaveni and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.

An estimation US$2 billion is anticipated to be raised to cater for the refugees crisis in a period of 4 years.
