Storyline:National News

Somalia’s Moderate Islamist group which has yesterday signed a peace deal with Galmudug State has called the accord to be implemented as to find a lasting solution to help the region to get lasting peace.

The chairman of the group’s Consultative Assembly, Sheikh Omar Sheikh Abdulkadir urged both sides not to break off the agreement signed.

“The sides have to live up what they signed and agreed upon, we are urging Galmudug state not step back, it has to fulfil what it has signed” he said.

This comes a day after Galmudug president Abdikarim Hussein Guled and Ahlu Sunna’s chairman Sheik Ibrahim Hussein Gureye signed agreement which makes provision for power sharing mechanism.

In the news deal Ahlu Sunna would get 30% of the regional assembly, 25% in the cabinet and 25% in the army and there would be some changes in the constitution to suit Ahlu Sunna demands.

On their side Ahlu Sunnah would recognize Galmudug State and join the state, it would also integrate its forces to those of Galmudug.

This brings to an end months of hostilities between the two.
