Airstrikes hit a village in Middle Shabelle region, Somalia

Reports indicate that Airstrikes hit last night at Basra village in the Middle Shabelle Somalia.

Residents of Basra village told Goobjoog News there were heavy attacks in the village amid reports the attacks were targeting Al-Shabaab militants in the area.

There were casualties caused by the attack but they were not still identified.

Several Al-Shabaab hideouts were recently hit airstrikes and destroyed in Middle Jubba and Lower Shabelle regions with an undisclosed number of its fighters killed.

Nine Al-Shabaab militants were killed Monday in a US airstrike in the outskirts of the coastal city of Kismayu, US military has said.

The strike follows increased Al-Shabaab activity in southern Somalia. The militants captured some areas in Bala’d some 43 kilometres northeast of the capital Mogadishu Saturday.
