Airstrikes hit Alshabab camp in Jubbaland

A sequence of aerial bombardments hit Lower Jubba region in Jubbaland state last night by drone attacks hammering an Alshabab military camp near Kismayo town, Jubbaalnd state.

The targeted site is located in Berhani location which lies 60km west of Kimayo.

Casualties are yet to be known since there is no official response from the US Africa Command (Africom) which normally carries out such attacks.

Senior Somali military official who requested to remain anonymous since he is not allowed to talk to the press said the attack took place while Alshabab were in a meeting and as a result high profile figures in the group who used to carry out operations in Lower Jubba region perished in the explosion .

No response has been released by Alshabab regarding this latest aerial attack who have been facing increased airstrikes by drone attacks and ground military offensives by joint Somali and Amisom forces in the region. The US has been conducting airstrikes with at least 10 strikes in November.
