Al-Shabaab retakes Badhadhe town after Jubbaland and KDF force retreat

Fighters from Al-Shabaab have retaken control of Badhaadhe township in Southern Somalia barely a day Jubbaland forces backed by Kenya Defence Forces captured the town.

Reliable sources say the allied forces retreated leading the fighters to retake control of the town.

Residents, who did not want to be identified, told Media that the group poured into the town, without encountering any fight or resistance from the coalition troops who moved to nearby area.

Al-Shabaab commander told the group’s radio Andulus that their fighters had “stormed the town of Badhadhe soon after the enemy pulled out.

“The brave fighters of Islam have taken full control of the town, the Islamic flag is waving over the station and the district headquarters he said.

On the Tuesday, joint forces launched dawn attacked on the town which is situated about 160 kilometers from Kismaayo.

The town initially fell into the hands Al shabaab after KDF forces withdrew from the town in January, 2016.

Kenya has more than 4,000 troops in Somalia since October 2011.
