Alshabab loses Barire town to Somali government forces with Amisom
Somalia Government forces with Amisom soldiers took over Barire town situated in Lower Shabelle region from Alshabab fighters on Saturday.
Reports reaching Goobjoog News indicate that Somali federal forces accompanied by Amisom soldiers carried out an early morning attack in the town and they met with limited resistance from Alshabab fighters.
It is assumed that Alshabab retreated and abandoned the town. Local residents have started fleeing from the area fearing to be caught in the crossfire.
Casualty figures are not yet officially known so far.
Eyewitness informed Goobjoog News the joint military forces have already started residing several strategic sites in Barire town.
