Alshabab storms an Ethiopian military base in the central regions of Somalia

Alshabab fighters stormed early hours of this Thursday morning, an Ethiopian military base in Halgan village of Hiran region, 175Km to north of Somali capital Mogadishu.

The militant rammed into the gate of the base a truck laden with explosives, followed two directions attack.

“We heard big bang and exchange of gunfire” told one of Halgan residents to Goobjoog.

The fight lasted several hours, before the Ethiopian troops managed to repel Alshabab attack. Military reinforcement including helicopters helped Ethiopian troops to overcome Alshabab attack. Says Somali military officer, who opted to remain synonymies

Ashabab military spokesman Sheikh Abdiaziz Abou Mus’ab told Reuters that his fighters killed 43 Ethiopian troops in the base, and admitted that they have lost fighters in their side.
