AMISOM Forces Abandon Awdigle locality In Lower Shabelle
African Peace keeping Mission in Somalia soldiers has abandoned Awdigle locality of lower Shebbele region, residents has confirmed to Goobjoog.
Hassan Slad is the Police chief in the locality; he told Goobjoog that AMISOM troops had only informed their plan to leave the locality in the last minutes.
“We do not know as to why they decided to leave here …. Now we are trying to accommodate them, we have Somali military forces which have base here” Hassan said
No official comments From AMISOM that specifies the reason of withdrawal but since 26th of June attack in which many Amisom soldiers killed in Lego locality this is second major withdrawal of AMISOM troops.
The withdrawal comes at a time when Alshabab has intensified its attacks on AMISOM bases in the region.
