AMISOM supports newly elected Galmudug president Ahmed Abdi (Qoorqoor) in Dhusamareb

The African Union Mission in Somalia has congratulated the new President and his Vice President elected in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug regional state.

A press release from AMISOM was congratulated by the leaders, calling on President Ahmed Abdi Kariye to face dialogue and reconciliation to find lasting solutions for Galmudug regional state and it people especially political stakeholders.

“AMISOM congratulates the newly elected leaders of Galmudug and urged President Ahmed Abdi Kariye to continue the reconciliation efforts,” AMISOM’s statement said.

Currently, AMISOM deployed forces in Dhusamareb with the purpose of helping the secure and conducive environment for the reconciliation conference and supporting the establishment of security conditions to ensure electoral process envolved in a free of violence area.

AMISOM was closely monitoring the ongoing operations of the election in Galmudug, but still there political rivals that ignored the Galmudug election process backed by the federal government claiming of election Rigg.
