Arab League must up efforts for Palestinian statehood-Somalia

The Arab League must bolster efforts towards Palestinian statehood, Foreign Minister Isse Awad has said while calling for an end to conflicts in Libya, Yemen and Syria.

Addressing the Arab League Council of Ministers while handing over the chairmanship of the League, Awad said the 22 member bloc must step up efforts to champion for the independence of Palestine and restoration of Jerusalem as its capital.

Awad told the ministers during its tenure which lasted for six months, Somalia had worked hard to promote reconciliation efforts among the Arab League member states. He also appealed to the League to work towards ending the ongoing conflicts in Syria, Libya and Yemen which have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives.

Iraq now takes over the chairmanship of the Arab League
