At least five soldiers killed, two Danab commanders injured in landmine blast

GOOBJOOG NEWS|LOWER SHABELLE:   At least five soldiers were killed and two Danab special forces commanders were injured following a landmine explosion in Lower Shabelle region.

The soldiers who were in a convoy which included that of Lower Shabelle governor Abdikadir Nur died after their vehicle ran into an improvised explosive device (IED) along Afgooye-Wanlaweyn road

Two Danab special forces commanders and the governor were injured and have since been moved to Afgooye town for treatment. The incident happened in Tehsiile village and has been claimed by Al-Shabaab.

The attack comes barely two weeks after another explosion in Lafoole which is located on the same highway killed at least four people including two Turkish engineers who were constructing the Mogadishu-Afgooye road.
