At least one soldier among Puntland security forces died and two others sustained injuries after unknown gunmen attacked a police station in Bosaso, the headquarters of Bari region and commercial hub of Puntland state.
Heavy gunfire between the forces and the attackers that has lasted for half an hour was heard from all over the district as local residents confirmed to the media.
The assailants withdrew from the area before quick reinforcement of Puntland security forces reached the station.
The forces conducted security crackdown in the city but no one was arrested in connection of last night’s attack at the police station.
Earlier this week hand bomb hurled on a police station in Bosaso wounded four soldiers on guard.
All these attacks occur a time when Puntland has declared that they have uprooted Al-shabab from the region after four days heavy fighting in Galgala mountains.
