Auditor General Directs Ministries to Deposit Income to the Central Bank

The Auditor General Dr. Noor Jim’ale has directed all ministries to deposit any income they generate to the Central Bank accounts and banned them of spending on them.

He said accountability should prevail in the government and that ministries should constrain themselves to their allocated budget.

“We need to restore the culture of accountability and transparency, any income generated by any ministry, they should deposit to the Central Bank, we know some ministries often spend their income, the Finance Ministry can only authorize any expenses by the ministries” said the auditor general.

Most of the ministries has income generation mechanism related to the survives they offer.
