Breaking: The election of Lower House speaker kicks off in Mogadishu

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Over 160 recently sworn in Somali parliament members are started election of the speaker of the 10th parliament in Mogadishu under tight security.

The election is expected to conclude in the forthcoming hours.

Among the candidates running for the parliament leadership is former parliament speaker, Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari.

Other candidates are Abdirashid Mohamed Hidig, Abdifatah Mohamed Ibrahim and Idris Abdi Takar.
