Storyline:National News, Security

The mayor of Mogadishu Thabit Mohamed Abdi has been relieved of his duty early this morning through a presidential decree.

He is replaced with the current federal Minister of Information and Culture Abdirahman Omar Osman.

Abdi was appointed to the position on early April 2016 by president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo.

It is alleged that the change comes amid political dispute on determining the future position of the Somali capital Mogadishu in the federal system applied in the country.
