BREAKING: Uhuru Kenyatta’s election victory invalidated by Supreme Court

Storyline:National News

Kenya’s Supreme Court has annulled the election of President Uhuru Kenyatta in a majority vote ordering the electoral body to organise a repeat election in 60 days.

The Supreme Court judges voted 4-2 to uphold the Court’s decision  in a historic vote that will see Kenyans troop to the polls once again.
The Court observed the electoral body IEBC failed to conduct a fair election noting the irregularities were sufficient to invalidate the election.
Supreme Court President Justice David Maraga, his deputy Philomena Mwilu, Justices Smokin Wanjala and Isaac Lenaola voted in favour of the petition while lady Justice Njoki Ndung’u and Justice Jackton Ojwang dissented. The seventh judge Justice Ibrahim Mohamed was taken ill during the trial and did not therefore participate in the final vote.
