Ceasefire in Bala’ad following elder’s intervention

Clan-clashes in the outskirts of Bala’ad town which claimed lives of over ten people and wounded several others has ended after some Somali federal MPs and traditional elders successfully brokered a ceasefire deal.

Several MPs including Omar Mohamud Finish enclave to try to broker a ceasefire deal which bored fruits.

“We have achieved fruitful cease fire and the sides agreed to live peacefully with each other” said Omar Mohamud Finish, MP.

The clans have over time gone into conflict over grazing and land disputes dated almost a decade ago.

The recent clashes have left dozens dead and score injured before the intervention of respect clan leaders.

Hundreds of families fled their homes in the area, where fighters loyal to two clans were battling it out.
