Mogadishu Mayor Yusuf Jima’ale has called on the district commissioners in the city to open up major roads within the city of Mogadishu which were closed during the election.

Speaking to the media in Mogadishu, Jima’ale said that all roads whose accessibility were limited during the presidential election and the inauguration of the new president should be opened within the coming days.

“We call upon the local administrations in different parts of the city to open up blocked roads which have caused a lot of inconveniences to the public as they cannot move around freely,” said Jima’ale.

All major roads in Mogadishu were closed on 8th and 22nd of this month to prevent attacks from Al-Shabaab during presidential election and the inauguration of president Farmaajo respectively.

Al-Shabaab fighters had vowed disrupt the elections and launch attacks on the city during the election time.
