Clashes in Warsheikh town

A gunfire broke out just a while ago between the Somali Federal Military forces and the local administration security personnel of Warsheikh in Middle Shabelle region.

Eyewitnesses told Gobjoog News the warring forces are using heavy gunfire against each other.

So far one soldier from the local administration is killed while both sides are alleged to have others sustained injuries in but the number is still unknown.

The fight follows a heated argument that took place last night between the two forces on matters relating to an entry checkpoint to the town.

Independent sources that are close to Warsheikh administration which Goobjoog spoke to said the military are opposing a checkpoint that was erected near the location.

The Commander of the Federal Military forces present in Warsheikh talked to Goobjoog briefly saying his troops were attacked and he will release further details later.

On the other hand, a local official of Warshiekh administration who requested Goobjoog News to remain anonymous said the military made an attack on the residential plot of the local Deputy of Security Affairs which led to the breakout of full scale conflict.

The front line of the sides fighting is in the central part of the town and the local residents deserted the scene of the action.

The Commissioner of Warsheikh location is said to have travelled to Saudi Arabia and no further report is available regarding his itinerary details.
