Death toll in India’s temple fire climbs to over 100 (VIDEO)

At least 102 people were killed and more than 350 were injured in the fire at India’s Paravur Puttingal Devi temple in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala, according to the latest figures published by The Hindu newspaper.

Earlier in the day, the fire broke out at the shrine during celebrations ahead of the Malayalam New Year on April 14. Over 200 were wounded by the blast in the firework stockpile, which destroyed the building.

Many victims of the fire died on the way to the local hospital, where over 100 have been admitted for treatment, with the remaining victims undergoing treatment at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital and various private hospitals, the publication added.
