Defence minister meets EU delegation

Somali Defence minister, Abdikadir Sheikh Ali yesterday received delegation from the European Union’s military training program for Somalia at his office in Mogadishu.

The sides discussed on wide range issues including speeding up of  trainings and capacity buildings of Somali National Army (SNA).

Head of the program General Atonio Maggi who was leading  the delegation pledged to enhance EU’s program for the Somali forces in 2016.

For his part Defence Minister Diini on his side thanked the European Union for the assistance to the country’s armed forces saying the initiative will help Somalia get a professional disciplined force that will serve their country and help it regain its peace and stability.

Somalia and European Union have good historic relationship. EU participates capacity rebuilding of Somali National Army which represents the different sections of the society. Getting well trained troop with code of conduct who respect rights of Somali people is our ambition” he said.
