Deputy state president of HirShabelle call for peace in the region

Deputy state president of Hirshabelle has called out the militia clan fighting in the Middle Shabelle to cease the fire unconditionally.

The deputy state president of Hirshabelle, Ali Gudlawe has also called the intellectuals and the local elders to intervene to end the fight in the region.

Ali Gudlawe said that they are making their best efforts to stop the conflict, and asked the intellectuals to mediate the fighting clan militias.

He said that it is important to work in peace and also to stop the bloodshed in Somalia again.

“We are saddened by the recent clan clashes in the region, we call on for a ceasefire, and everybody in the region has the responsibility to take part in the peace.” He added

However, the renewed fighting of Hirshabell state lost the lives of seven people in the days of battle over arguments of land, boreholes and pasture have perennially contributed to fighting among Somali clans who are largely pastoralists.

Since the collapse of the Central government in 1991, Water, pasture and politics have been at the centre of sporadic clashes between Somali tribes across the country.
