Local administration in Deynunay location has announced that the area is under the control of the Somali government forces.
Speaking to Goobjoog News, local commissioner Zakariye Haji made the declaration after reports indicated Alshabab fighters have taken over the location.
Commissioner Haji noted that Alshabab attacked a local military camp in Deynunay location in Bay region and fierce confrontation ensued for more than half an hour but they succeed in repulsing them according to him.
He was reticent on the casualties sustained on their side but confirmed that government forces are still controlling the area and are currently at Lowgaduud location which is 8km from Deynunay in hot pursuit against the attackers.
Earlier reports indicated that Alshabab has overrun the government forces in the location and took control of the location.
On Sunday night Alshabab fighters attacked a government checkpoint in Eelgelow between Jowhar and Bal’ad in the Middle Shabelle and allegedly controlled the area till dawn.
