Diarrhoea outbreak kills three children in Mokoy locality

At least three children have been confirmed dead after outbreak of diarrhea in Moyko village of Middle Shabelle region.

Moyko chief, Daaud Malaq  told Goobjoog News said that three children died and several others were admitted at Moyko health centre suffering from diarrhea.

“The disease has killed three children, under the age of five and  several others have been hospitalised. We are recording new cases almost every hour and we do not have sufficient medical facilities to cater for such cases,” said Malaq.

Malaq said the children died after consuming contaminated water.

Malaq called upon Somali government, WHO and international organizations to respond the situation the quickest possible to alleviate further deaths.
A mother living in Moyko village has expressed concern over the health situation of residents of the village.
“There are no medical facilities in the village, the situation of the people is disturbing, the health workers who were volunteers have stopped their work due to lack of medicine,” she said.
