Ethiopian troops pull out of Elbur

Ethiopian troops within the AMISOM Mission in Somalia on Monday vacated a military base in Elbur town in central Somalia, raising fears of possible Al-Shabaab attacks.

“The Ethiopian troops pulled out of El-bur town early this morning,” said a resident in Elbur town, adding the reason for the withdrawal was unclear.

El-Bur is at least the second town Ethiopian troops have vacated in recent week, after abandoning nearby Dhusamareeb town.

Residents said some townsfolk as well as some local administrators had also abandoned the town.
