Ex-Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo to visit Hargeisa today

Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo is visiting Somaliland today in his capacity as chairman of the South African based governance organisation Brenthurst Foundation.

Brenthurst Foundation said in a statement Saturday Obasanjo’s visit was at the request of Somaliland president Muse Bihi.

According to the statement, ‘Obasanjo ‘will be conducting meetings with local officials and development partners.’

The former Nigerian leader will also visit Mogadishu, on a similar fact-finding exercise, the foundation said.

Brenthurst Foundation describes itself as ‘being at the frontier of new ideas and innovative actions for strengthening Africa’s economic performance’ and has been working at the invitation of African governments since 2004.
