Federal government’s plan to unify Central Somalia regions failed

xukuumaddaReports from Somali presidential palace state that top government officials and other regional leaders including Galmudug president Abdi Hassan Awale alias Qeybdiid and Galgadud regional commissioner Hussein Cirfo, UN envoy to Somalia Nicholas Kay, EU and AU officials  are in a closed door meeting meant to unify the regional administrations in Central Somalia.

The leaders of Himan & Heb and Ahlu Suna Wal Jamaa state who landed at Adan Cade international airport today boycotted  the conference after their arrival in the capital, Mogadishu.

In addition Himan and Heb together with  Ahlu Suna Wal Jamaa leaders  who spoke to Goobjoog FM confirmed that they haven’t taken part in the meeting and will not recognize its outcome.

in today’s meeting the  federal government was intending to announce a unified administration for Central Somalia regions and appoint a technical committee to establish the administration.

Many people believe that the government is faced with challenges in the federalism process and establishment of regional states which the last recognized state of South West Somalia- three regions led to further dispute and divisions.
