Federal MP accuses NLF of setting aside the Constitution

Storyline:National News

Former Interior Minister and current MP Abdisamad Mo’ali Mohamud has accused the country’s leadership of abandoning the constitution and the laws of the land in place for unilateral decisions which are detrimental to the country’s progress.

The lawmaker said the National Leadership Forum had become the de facto supreme law of the land noting Somalia is no longer a society which respects its laws. The NLF is made up of the President, PM, House Speaker and leaders of regional administrations.

Mohamud said the Hiiraan/Middle Shabelle state formation process had suffered from unilateral decision making at the expense of the underlying factors which have kept the process dragging on for a year now.

Speaking to Goobjoog News, the MP called on the government to re-evaluate the state formation process since the process is no longer producing any tangible results.

The Hiiraan/Middle Shabelle state formation process started late last year but failed severally owing to differences on the composition of delegates. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud opened the state formation talks last Sunday in Jowhar.
