Federal parliament rejects Somali PM’s request

The members of federal parliament took meeting in parliament building on Thursday, they debated on prime minister’s request that casting the vote of confidence to the new government be postponed to 22nd January.

The lawmakers could not immediately agree on what to do with prime minister’s request, after hours of long debate the members casted vote for PM Abdirashid’s appeal.

After the vote the speaker of the federal parliament Mohamed Sheikh Osman Jawari who was chairing the house the last half of the session announced the results.

“ Out of 177 members in attendance57 MPs voted in favour of prime minister’s request while 120 members rejected” the speaker said.

The speaker stated that prime minister Abdirshid’s government will seek confidence from the federal parliament on Saturday.
