Storyline:National News

Hundreds of displaced families in Beledweyne town of Hiraan region continue living in an open area with little aid supplies.

The mayor of the town Omar Adan Deqow said water-borne diseases have become a big threat to the displaced people “cases of water-borne disease have been observed. People do not have shelters and enough food and medicine supply. We call for urgent help” said the mayor

The mayor noted that clean water constitutes biggest challenges for displaced people as water cleaning facilities submerged.

As the news of water receding spread to displaced families some families decide to go back “Some families are venturing back to their homes as river water started to recede but still dirty mud could hinder them to enjoy their homes” said the mayor

Floods in Beldweyne forced more 80% of residents to flee with little help and aid from Humanitarian organization or Somali Federal government.
