Foodstuff has been distributed to 150 needy families affected by drought in Baidoa town of South West State.

The families received dry food rations, including sugar, spaghetti, rice, flour, salt, cooking oil, tea and canned beans.

The food which donated by AMISOM was said to be the food rations of soldiers serving under African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM)

AMISOM Sector 3 contingent Commander Gabremeskel Gebrezigabe said the troops shared part of their food rations in solidarity with the families during the dry spell.

“We have decided to share with you the little that we have. We are with you at this trying time. But there are brighter days ahead.” Brigadier General Gabremeskel encouraged them.

Minister of Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration of the Interim South West Administration Hassan Hussein Mohamed thanked AMISOM troops for their generosity and support to the community.

“We are very grateful for AMISOM’s continued support and timely donations of food supplies to needy families in
Baidoa. AMISOM ENDF has always been supporting us and going that extra mile,” the minister noted.
