Former Benadir Governor ” Girls Should Be Given Chances In Jobs Oppotunities And Political Arena”

TarsanAs every government’s affirmative agenda is to premise on the genuine conviction that empowering women is key to the development of the nation, the former Benadir governor Mohamud Ahmed Noor Tarsan has underlined that it cannot be deny the role and rights of Somali women who are educated and the need to give them chance in any aspect especiall in the political arena.
He said that measures should be instituted to ensure women’s equal access and full participation in power structures, decision-making.
Women belief that they are given a second-class position to men in the political course of action, job opportunities due to favouritism, tribal and male-dominant mentality in Somali society and that educated girls are kept at home.
He urged Somali leaders to seize the opportunity to close the gender gap through sound policy and legal interventions.
“Educated girls should not be neglected, they have to be given chances , they should not be kept at homes, they have to participate the building of the country, parents usually seek jobs for boys only, girls are not given chances”
This comes a day after African leaders took part in a high level panel discussion on the 25th AU Summit theme, “Women Empowerment and Development towards Africa’s Agenda 2063”.
