Former Gedo governor appoints new DC for Bardhere town

The deported Gedo governor has appointed Bardere district commissioner and several other positions for the newly captured town amid Interim Jubba Administratrion banned several Gedo hailing politicians from the region including the governor himself.

In latter dated 27th August, Former Gedo governor Mohamed Abdi Kaliil who is currently in El-wak town has appointed Ismail Sheikh Abdi Qodax as the new district commissioner of Bardhere town which was captured from Al-Shabab fighters last month while Abdi Noor Hassan named to be his deputy.

This comes at a time Jubbaland Administration appointed new district commissioner and deputy DC for Bardhere.

On 8th August this year, Jubbaland president, Ahmed Mohamed Islam fired Mohamed Abdi Kalil as the governor of Gedo region, one day after the politician reconciled with the Jubbaland administration.

But Kalil has denounced the move and labelled it as immature, with no basis as he was appointed by federal government.

15th August IJA administration has forcefully deported several Gedo politicians and elders to Mogadishu.

Gedo former governor Mohamed Abdi Kalil, Abdi Barre Abdi, Gedo deputy governor, Mohamud Siyad Adan, the chairman of the dervish fighters (AhluSunna waljama’a) in Gedo Sheikh Mohamed Yusuf and other well known elders and politicians were all accused opposing President Ahmed Mohamed Islam administration.

Bardhere town used to be the largest stronghold for Al-Shabab’s top officials and its foreign jihadist fighters before they fled after heavy military assault by the Somali government forces and the African Union mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
