Fresh fighting in Galkaayo breaks after days of fragile ceasefire

Storyline:National News, Security

Heavy clashes between Puntland and Galmdug state forces broke out Thursday morning in a village west of Galkaayo as fragile cease fire breaks down. No casualties were reported immediately.

Goobjoog News reporter in Galkaayo says the two sides are engaging in intense fire fight and sounds of big explosion can be heard in several parts of the town.

What triggered the fighting is unclear yet, but this comes after days of fragile ceasefire which came into effect last week.

Ethiopian diplomatic mission in Somalia has made attempts to negotiate an agreement between the two the states but no reports of any developments yet.

Earlier this week, social and religious leaders in Galkaayo called for unconditional ceasefire and peace agreement between the two states.
