Breaking News: Gal-Mudug Assembly gets new parliament speaker

ali-Gacal-Casir-280x175Galmudug State parliament elected a new speaker, ending a month of waiting parliament formation and the speaker.

in the first round of voting among regional parliamentarians, three candidates were Ali Ga’al Asir who got 35 votes, Mr. Abdullahi Moalim Gafow Asbaro got 38 votes, Mr. Abdirisack Hussein Mohamud got 11 votes thus Abdullahi moalim Gafow and Ali Ga’al Asir moved the participation of the second round of voting.

In a secret ballot, members of the parliament voted to elect Ali Ga’al Asir as the new parliament speaker for Dhusa-Mareb to be based administration.

Asir managed to get 48 votes as his opponent scored 36 votes.

He took the helm after decimating his opponent by a margin of dozen of votes.

Gafow held a significant lead in the second round of voting thus he become the official speaker of Galmudug parliament.

 

On 20th June this year, the regional assembly born out of state formation conference in Adado constitutes some 84 MPs.

This election comes at a time when Ahlu Sunna Wal Jamah has started another state formation conference in Dhusa-Mareb.

On 10th this month, Somali moderate Islamist group, declared that its delegates would vacate the conference within 24 hours.

Speaking to Goobjoog News, its leader Sheikh Ibrahim Gurre, who was among the signatories to Somali central State formation conference put blame on Somali minister for internal affairs, Abdirahman Odawaa.

“The internal minister is a naive young boy who is new in the political arena so i have no answer for him” he said.

He added that they do not recognize the government “this government is not representing us”
