Galmudug presidential election underway in Dhusamareb

Galmudug presidential election supported by the federal government will take place in Dhusamareb today. After the federal government rejected all political stakeholders request for the Galmudug electoral process.

The contesting candidates namely as:

Dr Abdirahman Sabriye, an expert on economic development especially in trade and industry. Since the early 90s, he has been working the development of diaspora communities in Canada. For nearly two decades he served in the Ministry of Commerce and held various positions during the Barre regime.

Ahmed Abdi Kariye (Qoorqoor) A peace activist, former Deputy Mayor of Mogadishu Port | 2009-2017 | He also served as Minister of Public Works and Housing for the current government.

Ahmed Shire Falagle held various positions in Galmudug state search as minister of water and energy in Galmudug state.

Abdullahi Ahmed Samatar, former deputy governor of Galgadud region.

Security at the polling station has been tighten by the Special Police with AMISOM Special Forces from the Djibouti Government.
