Gedo former governor to be deported to Mogadishu

Gedo former governor Mohamed Abdi Kalil, elders and some of Gedo politicians opposing President Ahmed Mohamed Islam administration, are expected be flown to Somalia’s capital city Mogadishu.
Col. Abdirashid Moalim Gaas, in Gedo region has confirmed that the politicians and the former Governor would be deported in the forthcoming hours by the administration of Jubbaland.
“Former Gedo governor and some of Gedo politicians who are accused of opposing IJA government will be deported to Mogadishu” he said.
Meanwhile the order to arrest the politicians and elders was reportedly issued by Interim Jubba after the elders raised their voice against the recently constituted district and provincial administration in Doolow and Gedo region respectively.
This comes hours after Parliamentary committee of Internal Affairs, Regional Administration and Security accused Ethiopian soldiers of detaining Somali citizen and interfering nation’s internal affairs.
On 8th August this year, Jubbaland president, Ahmed Mohamed Islam has fired Mohamed Abdi Kalil as the governor of Gedo region, one day after the politician reconciled with the Jubbaland administration.
But Kalil has denounced the move and labelled it as immature, with no basis as he was appointed by federal government.
