Gedo region leaders called on the Kenyan government to end the extrajudicial killings of the innocent nomadic people in the region.

Since 2011, 55 civilians have been reported to be killed by the Kenyan troops in Somalia as part of the AMISOM in Gedo region, the lower Jubba od Somalia, while the casualties are higher.

“We will never tolerate the killings by the Kenyan troops in Gedo region anymore,” said a local resident who spoke to Goobjoog News. “Five innocent nomadic people were killed and five girls were raped last month  by the Kenyan troops between Elwak and Beledxawo district in Gedo region.”

“Al-Shabab major area controls in southern Somalia is much clear and everybody knows.” so there is no reason to believe that Al-Shabaab are with the innocent pastoralists,” he said,

Kenyan troops in Somalia as part of AMISOM were accused of extra-judicial killing, destruction of properties, the decimation of livestock and other violations the forces continue to perpetrate against civilians in several parts of the region.
