GOOBJOOG NEWS|NEW YORK:    UN chief António Guterres has tapped Ghanaian Anita Kiki Ghebo (pictured) to be the deputy of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM).

The UN announced Wednesday Gbeho will be moving to Somalia to deputise UNSOM head, James Swan. She is replacing Raisedon Zenenga of Zimbabwe, who now heads to Libya in the capacity of Assistant Secretary-General and Mission Coordinator of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).

Since May 2018, Ghebo has served as Deputy Joint Special Representative of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), where she led the development and implementation of the mission’s transition strategy, the global body said in a statement.

The new deputy UNSOM head has more than 25 years of experience in strategic planning, coordination and management in political, development and humanitarian affairs at United Nations Headquarters and in field operations.
