Government Addresses Food Security in Somalia

The Deputy Prime Minister Mohamed Omar Arte Ghalib has toured 13 ministries in an effort to speed up service delivery and efficiency of operations.

One of the ministries he visited included the ministary of Agriculture and Ministry of Livestock which shares premises with the Finance Ministry and has this to say “This three ministries are the backbone of the economic recovery of Somalia, and we would like you to come up with a contingent plan for food security in case of crises , in 2011 severe drought claimed more than 250,000 and we would not allot that to happen again”.

The DP reminded the ministries to have a national policy for food security.
