Gunman kills inmate Mahas town

Gunman has attacked Mahas central Jail and killed a prisoner in central Somalia, officials said.

Al-Shabaab suspected in Mahas jail killed on Sunday morning after unidentified gunman disguised himself in military uniform shot him inside the jail.

“The attacker began shooting during visiting hours for prisoners’ relatives,” the official said, asking not to be identified.

Mahas district commissioner, Mohamud Mohamed Halane said the assailant was arrested after the incident.

” The attacker’s father was last night in Miqokori village Al-Shabaab fighters thus he decided to attack the prison and kill man who was arrested for being Al-Shabaab member,” said Halane.

This is the first revenge incident reported from Mahas town.
