Guterres urges world leaders to listen to their citizens

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has called for peaceful and non-violent acts by the international community in the demonstrations and for political changes.

The United Nations on Friday told reporters that as world leaders need to listen to the real problems of real people suggest touched by rigorous conditions in their own countries.

Guterres noted that people want equal rights, respect and comment on ongoing decisions and development, and added that people’s concerns were triggered by protests in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.

“It is clear that there is a decline in confidence and increased threats that governments face, but it is necessary to avoid wrongdoing and rule out the fate of the nation,” he said.
